Es asombroso ver cómo las corporaciones mediáticas, en otras palabras USTED, manipulan la información a su antojo. Hasta el sábado 16 de diciembre, HUGO CHAVEZ lideraba su encuesta “Personaje del Año” con un 35% seguido por su contendiente Mahmoud Ahmadinejad quien obtenía un 21%. ¡Y ahora, hoy domingo 17 de diciembre, usted decide borrar todos los registros de su página web y proclama a “USTED” (esto es al público en general) como personaje del año! Ha sido una movida vergonzosa. ¿Cómo se atreven a ofender a sus lectores y a la opinión pública en general de esta manera? ¿Es esta la democracia y los estándares de imparcialidad que ustedes defienden? ¿Qué pasó? ¿Nominar a Hugo Chávez va contra su línea editorial dictada por las corporaciones que mantienen el flujo de dinero hacia ustedes? Esto es completamente enfermizo y es una ofensa a la dignidad, inteligencia y opinión de todos nosotros.
Si a usted y a sus grandes amigos no les gusta Hugo Chávez, bueno, mal por ustedes. La mayor parte del mundo lo AMA (como lo ha evidenciado su encuesta) les guste o no. Su liderazgo, su avances sociales y políticos, sus propuestas y proyectos y su posición en contra de un mundo capitalista que ha perdido el rumbo, se presentan como una alternativa prometedora y una inspiración para todos aquellos que pensamos que el mundo está enfermo, que el sistema nos está matando con injusticias, guerras y amenazas ecológicas, encubiertas y promovidas por los medios corporativos (USTED). Vemos en él la vía hacia un nuevo mundo para los que vienen, pues creemos que otro mundo, no sólo es posible, sino que es URGENTE y NECESARIO.
De modo que, sigan así, creo que de alguna manera no es tan malo que actúen de esta forma, pues su proceder permite que mas y mas gente se despierte y comience a cuestionar sus modos. ¡Viva Chávez, un nuevo mundo y los medios independientes!

OPEN LETTER TO TIME MAGAZINE EDITOR

It is really amazing to see how corporate media, that is to say YOU, twist information as you wish. Until Saturday 16th December, HUGO CHAVEZ was leading your person of the year poll by 35% next to his contender, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who had 21%. And now today Sunday, 17th December, you decide to erase all records on your webpage and proclame YOU (that is to say the general public) the Person of the Year for 2006!!! This is an outrageous move. How dare you offend your readers and public opinion in general this way! Is this the democracy and the unbiased standards you defend? What happened? Does nominating Hugo Chavez go against your editorial line that is dictated from the corporations that keep the money coming in? This is absolutely sick and it is an open offense to the dignity, intelligence and opinion of us all.
If you and your big buddies don't like Hugo Chavez, well too bad. Most the world LOVES him, like it or not (as shown on your poll results). His leadership, his social and political advancements, his proposals and projects and his positions against this capitalistic world that is going down the drain is surely promising and inspiring for all of us who think the world is sick, the system is killing us with injustices, wars, ecological threats and the media (YOU) promoting these. We see in him the path of a new world for the coming, because we believe another world is not only possible it is URGENT and NECESSARY.
So, go on, I guess in a way it is not so bad you act like this, sooner or later, more and more people will wake up and start to question your ways. Long live Chavez, a new world and independent media!
